CENTRAL ROMANA OBTAINS ISO 18788 CERTIFICATION FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF ITS SECURITY OPERATIONS
La Romana. – Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. has obtained the international ISO 18788:2015 certification for the management system of its Guardacampestre Security Department. The certification was granted by auditing firm MSS Global following an audit and evaluation of the department’s operations.
With this certification, Central Romana becomes the first sugar mill in the Dominican Republic to achieve this standard and one of the few companies in the Caribbean and Latin American region to hold this quality certification.
One of the key aspects addressed by the security operations management system is the respect and promotion of human rights. This commitment extends to employees, clients, suppliers, communities, and other stakeholders connected to Central Romana’s security operations.
“This certification is part of the commitment assumed by our company and all of our employees to continue raising the quality of the operational processes we carry out, ensuring that they are conducted responsibly and in accordance with a standard that requires compliance with international requirements,” said Leo Matos García, Executive Vice President of Central Romana.
According to the scope established by MSS Global, the certification covers the management, provision, and supervision of physical security operations, including logistics, electronic security and monitoring, accreditation and access controls, as well as the coordination of emergency and incident response teams related to security within the properties of Central Romana Corporation.
This approach is aligned with international instruments and principles applicable to the sector, including the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoCa), the Montreux Document, and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, as well as applicable national legislation.
“We are proud of the level of commitment demonstrated by the members of our Security Department. We congratulate them for the dedication they have shown in their work, which enabled us to achieve compliance with this quality standard,” Matos reaffirmed.
The adoption of this international standard adds to the certifications already held by Central Romana and will contribute to strengthening its internal processes through the implementation and monitoring of practices aimed at ensuring structured and consistent management of security operations.
This marks the second ISO 18788:2015 certification obtained within the Central Romana corporate group. The first was awarded to Guardianes Costasur, whose Security Department at Casa de Campo was a pioneer in obtaining this certification for physical security services in the Dominican Republic.
