Central Romana ends sugar harvest season with its 2nd highest milling record in history
La Romana. – Central Romana sugar mill announced that it ended its harvest reaching their second highest milling record in the history of the company with 3,803,603 short tons of cane processed, for a total production of 429,328 short tons of sugar.
Out of this amount, the mill produced 180,867 short tons of refined sugar. The company guarantees it can fulfill the demand of this product for the national market.
In addition there were 23,152,300 gallons of molasses produced.
The company recalled that on July 28, 1982 Central Romana set a world record when grinding 4,092,807 short tons of sugarcane, what at the time became the largest harvest made by a single sugar mill in the international industry.
Recently Central Romana Corporation announced that it received a certification in the field of social responsibility and environmental sustainability under the PROTERRA standard, within a range that includes the sugar cane production and its derivatives.
Also the refined sugar that the company produces is certified since the year 2011 under ISO-9001 quality control by the British firm Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.
In the upcoming days, and as every year at the end of the harvest, the company will deliver out bonuses to all its workers and employees.
