UN SIGLO DE HISTORIA CENTRAL ROMANA CORPORATIONAeropuerto internacional de La Romana148La Romana international airportComo complemento de sus proyectos turísticos, Central Romana Corporation, ha venido incursionando paulatinamente en el área de las comunicaciones.Su primera intervención en este campo fue la construcción del aeropuerto internacional, que la empresa tenía dentro del complejo turístico de Casa de Campo, el cual, en sus inicios, respondía a la necesidad de sus altos ejecutivos de tener rápido acceso internacional a La Romana, y que con el paso del tiempo se convirtió en un aeropuerto internacional con varios vuelos diarios desde y hacia territorio norteamericano.Más recientemente, a fines de la década de 1990, se crearon las condiciones para que la empresa decidiera construir un moderno aeropuerto internacional, con el objetivo de ofrecer un servicio eficiente a la creciente oferta turística del área y a las necesidades normales de transporte aéreo internacional en la región este del país. Y a través de su subsidiaria, Airport Management Services, Ltd, deja inaugurado el 14 de diciembre de 2000, a un costo aproximado de RD$1,000,000,000 un nuevo y moderno aeropuerto, sustituyendo así el Aeropuerto Internacional Punta Aguila.In order to complement its tourism projects, Central Romana Corporation has gradually entered the area of communications.Its first operation in the field of communications was the construction of an international airport that the company had inside the Casa de Campo resort, and which, in its early stages simply met the needs of the company’s top executives to have fast access to international travel to and from La Romana. In time it became an international airport with several daily flights to and from the United States.More recently, by the end of the 1990’s, the company decided to build a modern international airport, with the purpose of offering an efficient service to the growing tourism in the area and to the normal requisites of international air transport in the eastern region of the country. The 14th of December of 2000, at an approximate cost of RD$1,000,000,000, and through its subsidiary, Airport Management Services, Ltd, the company inaugurated a new and modern airport to substitute the Punta Aguila International Airport.
