After completing the most significant restoration process since its inauguration in 1971, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas celebrated the official reopening of its legendary golf course, Teeth of the Dog, with the presence of the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader Corona.<\/p>\n

The intervention, which represented an investment of US$15 million, reaffirms the resort\u2019s position as one of the most prestigious golf destinations in the world and a leader in the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

The ceremony included a blessing by Reverend Father Jorge Dionel Hern\u00e1ndez, pastor of the Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in La Romana, and brought together government officials such as Minister of Tourism David Collado and Minister of Industry and Commerce Eduardo Sanz Lovat\u00f3n, along with top executives from Central Romana Corporation, led by its president Jos\u00e9 \u201cPepe\u201d Fanjul Jr. and executive vice presidents Ram\u00f3n Men\u00e9ndez, Leo Matos Garc\u00eda, and Eduardo Mart\u00ednez-Lima. Special guests, members of the press, and figures from the international golf community were also in attendance.<\/p>\n

During the event, Casa de Campo President Andr\u00e9s Pichardo Rosenberg highlighted that the restoration aimed to preserve the integrity of one of the most iconic golf courses in the world.<\/p>\n

Restoration with Historical Precision<\/strong><\/p>\n

After more than five decades exposed to the demanding marine environment of the Caribbean, the course required a comprehensive intervention to preserve its original design. The project was led by the renowned firm Jerry Pate Design, with the goal of faithfully reconstructing Pete Dye\u2019s vision using modern techniques and high engineering standards. <\/p>\n

The work included the complete renovation of greens, bunkers, tees, and fairways, the upgrading of drainage and irrigation systems, and the construction of new cart paths. The entire course was replanted with Dynasty Paspalum, a grass especially resistant to coastal environments. <\/p>\n

One of the most important aspects was the protection of the famous \u201cHeaven 7,\u201d the seven spectacular holes overlooking the Caribbean Sea that have made Teeth of the Dog one of the most photographed golf courses in the world. Coastal engineering and shoreline rehabilitation solutions were implemented to ensure resilience against future climate conditions. <\/p>\n

New Investments at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the event, Pichardo Rosenberg also announced that the second phase of the Premier Suites project will begin in May 2026, including a new swimming pool and the expansion of the resort\u2019s spa. The resort was recently reaffirmed with a Four-Star rating from Forbes Travel Guide, making it the only resort in the Dominican Republic with the distinction.<\/p>\n

Both President Luis Abinader and Minister David Collado noted that investments of this scale strengthen the country\u2019s luxury tourism offering and increase the Dominican Republic\u2019s competitiveness on the international stage.<\/p>\n

The ceremony concluded with the traditional ribbon-cutting to officially mark the reopening of the legendary golf course. Attendees also recalled that renowned architect Pete Dye symbolically rests at hole 8, a place filled with history within this iconic design.<\/p>\n

Internationally recognized for its seven oceanfront holes, Teeth of the Dog consistently ranks among the best golf courses in the world in prestigious publications such as GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest.<\/p>\n
