The launch featured an exceptional tasting event where attendees experienced firsthand the remarkable quality of this locally produced delicacy.
Romangus represents more than just a new product—it embodies over ten years of meticulous research and development, showcasing Central Romana’s unwavering commitment to agricultural innovation. Jorge Sturla, Central Romana’s Director of Public Relations, highlighted this achievement during his presentation: “We’re thrilled to introduce Romangus to discerning consumers—a premium beef developed through carefully breeding our distinctive Romana Red cattle with select Angus bloodlines. This unique crossbreed, raised naturally on grass without hormones, delivers exceptional quality that meets the highest global standards,” Sturla explained.
This visionary initiative originated from Eduardo Martínez Lima and Ramón Menéndez, who conceptualized a world-class Dominican beef nearly a decade ago. Their vision became reality through collaboration between local experts and international specialists, including renowned geneticist Dr. Joe Paschal from Texas A&M University, with technical oversight from Dr. Leo Matos.
Romangus signals a transformation in Dominican beef production—developed entirely under Central Romana Corporation’s exacting standards, with cattle raised exclusively on company pastures following rigorous quality protocols.
