CENTRAL ROMANA’S HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS EXCEL IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The students belong to the Abraham Lincoln School and stood out among 2,500 participants from over 500 schools worldwide.

La Romana. A group of eleventh-grade students from the Abraham Lincoln School, an educational institution of Central Romana Corporation, secured 2nd place in the “Future Leaders” competition sponsores by the prestigious Hult University and Italian fashion company Dolce & Gabbana. The goal of the competition was to develop an innovative and relevant product for the brand.

This contest gathered 2,500 applicants from 518 schools around the world.

Students Lisannely Pepén, Valeria León, Helen Herrera, Trishia Familia, April Martínez, and Samira Cantalejos, guided by their teacher and student counselor Ian Revis, took on the challenge of creating a product and designing its marketing campaign, considering the interests and behaviors of Generation Z, the demographic group born between 1997 and 2012.

In addition to the recognition of their creative talent, each Abraham Lincoln School student received a scholarship valued at $10,000 USD per year, applicable at any Hult University campus located in Boston, London, Dubai, or San Francisco, California.

“This achievement reflects the level of preparation and training we strive to offer our students. We are immensely proud of this particular group of young women and the impact their participation had in this high-level competition, representing both La Romana and elevating the Dominican Republic’s educational sector,” said Mr. Harry Magee, Headmaster of the Abraham Lincoln School at Central Romana.

Among the key criteria for the Dolce & Gabbana project were creating an appealing product name and developing a unique product for the brand, analyzing youth consumption habits and market trends, designing a competitive pricing strategy, identifying the most effective distribution channels, and crafting communication strategies targeted at Generation Z.

The “Future Leaders” competition serves as a global platform for high school students to develop leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, preparing them for future academic and professional challenges.
